Wisen Creek

The Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition partnering with DNR proposes to stabilize a beaver dam in a forested wetland.  Wisen Cr. crosses logging roads twice just below the second culvert is an extensive wetland.  A large beaver dam was in place across the stream about 200 meters below the culvert.  The project proposal is to install a plank weir or sand bags where the beaver dam had been to increase the water level in the pond. Last year the Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition, partnering with DNR, replaced a fish barrier culvert on Wisen Creek below the wetland and adult spawners and redds were seen above the culvert this winter. This project will compliment the project done last year. The project will be monitored for presence and numbers of juvenile Coho by PCSC.
