Pseudo Springs

The Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition partnering with SSHEAR and Rayonier proposes to stabilize a wetland in a wetland. Pseudo pond crosses  an abandoned logging road where the culvert has plugged. Primarily, road fill had increased the available wetland habitat. We would like to remove the nonfunctioning culvert and still maintain the wetland. The project proposal is to install a rough-cut cedar plank weir where the road fill had been to maintain the water level in the pond. Below the weir, a roughened channel would be created using three additional plank controls to hold bed load materials in place. The project will be monitored for presence and numbers of juvenile Coho by SSHEAR.
