Labrador Creek

The Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition partnering with SSHEAR and Green Crow proposes to stabilize a beaver dam in a forested wetland.  Labrador Cr. crosses an abandon logging road where the culvert has plugged. Above the culvert an existing beaver dam has created an extensive wetland pond.  A large beaver dam was in place across the stream about 200 meters below the culvert.  The project proposal is to install a rough cut cedar plank weir where the beaver dam had been to maintain the water level in the pond. Below the weir a roughened channel would be created using three additional plank controls to hold bed load materials in place. The project will be monitored for presence and numbers of juvenile Coho by SSHEAR.
